You could use Docker's cp command as a workaround. In your case it would be something like: docker cp tz1Zvjxu9Vzt76uRLtV6CHZMPu1zKA5YV4QX.json alphanet_node_1:/home/tezos/tz1Zvjxu9Vzt76uRLtV6CHZMPu1zKA5YV4QX.json ./alphanet.sh client activate account myfaucet with tz1Zvjxu9Vzt76uRLtV6CHZMPu1zKA5YV4QX.json

The command tezos-client activate does not exist on mainnet. Are you positive that you launched your node against one of the test networks? The faucet is only for the test networks. You may need to repeat your node setup and pass --network carthagenet when starting it.

Your node is not sync'ed. (I agree that the error output doesn't describe the problem) (timestamp: 2018-09-08T22:03:12-00:00, validation: 2020-10-28T09:15:10-00:00). ^^^^^ ^^^^^^ current block Target block

As far as I know, there aren't any. What you can do is copy the code of the token that interests you on Mainnet, deploy it on Carthagenet and create some tokens you can then use for your tests :)
